The Waiting Game

Waiting is Frustrating

I wrote a book and ended up as a waiter.

– Not a table waiter at a restaurant: that would be a paid position. The type of waiter that I’m on about, and that I’ve become, doesn’t get paid for waiting… And neither does waiting mean that it’s not possible to do something constructive and meaningful while waiting: Losers wait and twiddle their thumbs, expecting something good to happen given time. – Producers, winners, create and produce while waiting. As they do so they are causing something good and beneficial to happen while they wait.

But I’m waiting, despite creating while waiting: Publishing companies lie, and literary agents – with quite a workload – take their time.

One outlet said to me “I just love it! Please send us the manuscript. We should be able to make our decision by 11 March…”

March came and went. I heard nothing. I even sent a short reminder note. – No reply.

Another agent who I contacted on 28th January 2024 hasn’t yet responded either.

I’m still contacting agents.

I’m still sending out queries.

I’m still waiting…
